Flooring Trends For 2020
I always get excited this time of year thinking about new trends for the upcoming year. Flooring affects your home in so many ways. It affects the design of your home, it adds to the value of your home, it can impact your heath, it adds to your comfort, it affects the acoustics in your home, it affects energy savings and it determines maintenance. So if you are going to be building a new home or remodeling an existing home, you have a lot to consider when you choose your flooring. Now grab that cappuccino and lets get to the good stuff.
First lets look at the materials that will be trending in flooring for 2020. Eco-friendly flooring, for example re-claimed wood, leather flooring, bamboo flooring, cork flooring, wool carpet, stained concrete, linoleum flooring and recycled glass or metal tile. Waterproof vinyl flooring, for example luxury vinyl plank, engineered vinyl plank and vinyl tile. Also water proof laminate, carpet and American made products. Each one of thee flooring options can be both functional and fun.
The looks that will be trending will be stone and wood. Not much has changed with these looks, as they have been trending for several years now and I don’t see them going away anytime soon.
The architectural styles you will see trending are industrial, farmhouse, coastal and contemporary. I love all of these styles and can see myself creating fabulous designs using updated flooring trends.
Colors that will be trending in flooring will include whites and white washes, grays and greiges, blondes and high variations of color. So have fun when choosing color but think functional. Do you have a pet that sheds? Is your home high traffic and will show dirt? If so, you may want to choose a color that camouflages this.
Textures will play a big part in flooring in 2020. Gorgeous reclaimed, wire brushed, hand scraped and distressed textures will give a more rustic look. Your home will have that luxurious feel and you will be adding value to your home.
Patterns are also trending in 2020. Wide plank, mixed width, chevron, hexagon, herringbone and checkered patterns top the list. This opens up so many over the top herringbone and checkered patterns top the list. This opens up so many over the top a reclaimed wood with a gorgeous tile throughout your new home. Patterns can create beautiful works of art in your home.
So my advice to you, if you are selecting flooring, is think about how it can enrich your space and how you can personalize it and make it yours. Remember the possibilities are limitless!
